Stadium Journey Magazine has ranked Verizon Center as the top NHL venue and the fourth-best venue in the country in their “Best Stadiums of 2011” issue [CLICK HERE TO READ STADIUM JOURNEY ARTICLE]. The magazine was created to give an annual in-depth look into stadiums across the country in every major sport, including the minor leagues and even teams at the collegiate level.

In this year’s edition an official correspondent of the magazine rated Verizon Center 4.7 out of 5, while the fans chimed in with a  4.5 out of 5 rating. The rating system is used to calculate the overall stadium experience using the following categories: food and drink, atmosphere, neighborhood, fans, access, return on investment and extras.

Verizon Center had overwhelmingly high scores in each category including a “5” rating in food and drink, atmosphere, neighborhood, fans and extras. Stadium Journey’s regional correspondent finished his official review by saying, “Go get your bucket list. Add “Attend a Washington Capitals game at Verizon Center” to it. Then do it. You will not be disappointed. Unless there’s something wrong with you.” He also added that Washington Capitals fans are among the top-5 hockey fans in the country.
