Brooks Laich was on the ice for today’s morning skate after missing practice yesterday due to a hit sustained in Sunday’s game against the Bruins. While the question still remains if Laich will be in tonight’s line-up (game time decision), one thing is certain - most games he’s missed have been the Caps’ choice.
When Laich was traded to Washington on Feb. 18, 2004, he wore a Caps’ sweater for only four games. After performing poorly in training camp the next season he was sent to the American Hockey League (AHL). Then during the 2005-06 campaign Laich had proved a solid National Hockey Leaguer (NHL) and appeared in 73 games during his rookie season with the Caps.
After being a healthy scratch for the early part of the 2006-07 season, Laich was scratched only once in the second half of the campaign. Since that time, Laich has appeared in 397 of 401 games the Caps have played in.
